Is Comfrey Cream Safe to Use? Why We Only Use Comfrey Leaf (Not Root)
Share
If you are researching natural remedies for joint pain, you’ve likely asked: is comfrey cream safe to use? The answer lies in which part of the plant is used and how it is applied.
Comfrey contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs). While these occur naturally, they are found in significantly higher concentrations in the roots of the plant. At Herbalshire, we make a conscious choice to use Comfrey Leaf only in our infusions.
Why Leaf-Only? By excluding the root, we provide a comfrey cream that is gentler and safer for regular topical application. We never use synthetics, parabens, or mineral oils—just pure leaf-infused oil and natural beeswax.
Safety Tip: Always ensure you only apply comfrey products to "closed" skin. Never apply to open wounds or deep cuts.
